I love working at Nobis because it provides an employee-centric environment, fosters collaboration, and provides the opportunity to work on challenging projects while working with amazing people.
As the Director of Transportation, Kurt is responsible for leading new business development and positioning Nobis as a forerunner in providing Nobis’ services to transportation clients. With over 20 years of experience and integrated skills in geotechnical, civil, and environmental engineering, Kurt has successfully managed a variety of complex transportation design and improvement projects throughout the Northeast. He has managed a multitude of Design-Build projects and on-call contracts where he has completed geotechnical subsurface explorations and foundation designs for bridges, highways, railways, and buildings. He enjoys working hand in hand with stakeholders and designers to understand their goals and guide their projects from the feasibility study through the final design and construction.
Life Outside of Nobis
Growing up in Switzerland has made Kurt fond of the outdoors, and he can often be found hiking, biking, trail running, and occasionally sea kayaking and rock climbing. When he’s not climbing mountains, you can find him skiing down them or gliding over the groomed XC-ski skate lanes at one of the Nordic Ski centers. He is a co-leader of the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) Boston Chapter where he sometimes leads hiking groups through the White Mountains. In addition to his leisure activities, Kurt is involved in ACEC Massachusetts and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section where he serves on the committee dedicated to organizing the annual ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards competition, and awarding scholarships to engineering students and stipends to young engineers.
