After working for other environmental consulting companies large and small, I really appreciate the friendly, collaborative, and supportive work environment here at Nobis; my colleagues here exhibit kindness and professional excellence, in equal measure.

Jim Vernon is a Senior Hydrogeologist and Project Manager, serving as Nobis Group’s Director of Water Supply Services. Jim develops new water supply wells for public and private clients and manages and performs technical work at Superfund and other sites with groundwater contamination. He enjoys collaborating with Nobis colleagues, clients, and partner firms and the flexibility to work on “clean water” (water supply) and “dirty water” (e.g. Superfund) projects. Jim finds the work challenging, with every site and client presenting a unique situation and the potential to solve a groundwater problem. He brings to Nobis the value of more than 30 years of hydrogeologic consulting experience in several states and geologic settings. He works well with regulators and in service to several professional committees. Jim has been a member of the New England Water Works Association Groundwater Committee for nearly 30 years and served as Chair for 13 years.

Jim’s areas of expertise include geology, bedrock and overburden hydrogeology, geophysics, and synthesizing varied types of information to develop conceptual site models and effective project strategies. His experience also includes teaching and working in federal and oil company research labs.

Life Outside of Nobis

When not working, Jim enjoys hiking, birding, traveling, and classical music.
